This is a victim-blaming quote. No one volunteers to be abused. So many circumstances prevents those who are abused from leaving. So whether it’s one time or many, YOU are NOT a volunteer and no one deserves to be abused. Those who are victims reading this quote, YOU are not a volunteer. Continue to ask GOD to put people and resources in place to help you. Please don’t suffer in silence. Reach out to one trusted friend for help. The abuse you are going through is NOT YOUR FAULT. You are not responsible nor should you allow anyone, NOT EVEN YOURSELF, to hold you accountable for someone else’s behavior. Don’t allow anyone to tell you that you will NEVER get over your abuse. That’s not true. It is a long painful journey. You can heal and life a happy, productive life. I know, because that’s what I’m doing. Don’t sell yourself short.
