I grew up in a family of firefighters. Being the only girl among my family’s many generations of boys, my path to the fire service had a few extra speed bumps. At age 16, I was about 98 pounds soaking wet. Learning how to become not only fit- but fire-department fit- was the greatest challenge of my life at that time. I knew in my heart I wanted it, but my body wasn’t ready. From that moment on, my journey to learn all I could about fitness, health and wellness took root.
