Are you a Highly Sensitive Person?

I am a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), my mother and my children are highly sensitive people and I have been life coaching HSP’s since 2002.

At least 1.4 billion people are Highly Sensitive, that is 20% of the population.

Are you? Is someone close to you?

Below is a list of traits that are common for highly sensitive people.

See if some of the statements resonate with you, or relate to someone important in your life.

Mark off each trait that you relate to. If you mark off most of them then you are likely an HSP.

* I have an acute awareness of my environments through my senses that most others don’t experience.
* I have a rich, complex inner life
* I have a strong intuition
* I take on other people’s feelings and know how to help them meet their needs
* I am deeply moved by people, culture, animals, and experiences in nature
* I don’t like making mistakes or forgetting things
* I am particularly sensitive to the effect of caffeine
* I find it unpleasant to have a lot going on around me and on my plate
* I need to make private time for myself every day, otherwise, I get stressed out
* As I child, I was labeled as too emotional or shy

Whether you are or not, you most likely know one or more highly sensitive person and now will have a better understanding of yourself or them.

My website www.marilynomalley and Marilyn O’Malley YouTube channel are full of information for HSPs, take your time to search topics that interest you to learn more.

A lot of HSPs don’t know they are highly sensitive and believe something is wrong with them because they feel so deeply and are overwhelmed and overstimulated by their environments. I love to inform and transform how HSPs are valued in society and how they value themselves. Highly sensitives make excellent leaders and are called to help heal humanity and the planet according to their own interest, sharing what they know with the other 80% of the population that aren’t HSP.

HSP’s are here to stand out, not to fit in.

Your awareness, creativity, and sensitivity are going to help heal and change the world.

Here are other famous HSP: Woody Allen, Jim Carey, Steve Martin, Mel Brooks, Johnny Carson, Harry S. Truman, Martin Luther King, Jr. Malcolm X, Gandhi, Dalai Lama, Mother Theresa, Eleanor Roosevelt, Sir Issac Newton, Thomas Alva Edison and Jane Goodall, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Elton John, Alanis Morissette, Neil Young, Jim Morrison, Celine Dion, Jewel, Keith Urban, Jack Johnson, Dolly Parton, Barbra Streisand, Mozart, Edgar Allen Poe, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Emily Dickinson, Virginia Wolf, E.E. Cummings, James Baldwin, Walt Whitman, Robert Frost, Julie Christie, Jennifer Beals, Nicole Kidman, Scarlette Johansson, Taye Diggs, Winona Ryder, Claire Danes, Riley Keough…

There is a great movie that will provide you with everything you need to know about HSP called SENSITIVE: THE MOVIE for more information and scientific research.

Personal experience has taught me that it is not merely important to learn about the nature of one’s sensitivity from books or movies, but also to learn through fellowship and friendship with others who are also highly sensitives. The sharing of life experience that comes with being Highly Sensitive can be as important as a teacher or any book.

This is what I want you to know about being HSP:

~ Embrace your sensitive and creative traits as SuperPowers.
~ You are not alone and you are better than OK! There is nothing wrong with you!
~ You can create healthy boundaries and self-care, so you are not overwhelmed by the insensitive world and unconscious people.
~ You are here to make a difference in the world, your sensitivity allows you to organically have more information than non-HSP for better problem solving, innovation and leadership.
~ You can love ALL of yourself and live more truthfully, enjoying all the opportunities and experiences you can imagine.
~ You are a gifted individual and can use your SuperPowers to serve yourself and humanity.
