I want to tell you all a story about my friend Paul (not his real name) because what he did was so amazing and I know that everyone here will appreciate what it took for him to do this – and it perfectly illustrates the kind of thing that I will be addressing in my upcoming webinar https://www.learnitlive.com/class/11265/Be-an-Oasis-of-Peace-in-a-Reactive-World
Paul was moved by something he saw on facebook around the time of the 2016 election. He is a compassionate man and a progressive thinker. Maybe you saw the movement that gained momentum around that time, to wear a safety pin on your clothes, to indicate to anyone in a public place, that if they were feeling bullied or attacked, they could com stand by you – that you were a safe haven in a sometimes angry world.
Paul took this seriously and wore his safety pin with pride. And one day, on his way to work, he saw, by the side of the road, a man and a women who were fighting physically.
Paul didn’t want to stop, he was on his way to work after all, but he pulled over just to observe for a moment. When he saw the man push the woman up against a fence, he knew that if he were to be in integrity with the safety pin on his sweater, he would have to do something.
Please comment if you also admire his courage, and I’ll share the next part of this amazing story tomorrow.
